Spyro approached the lake shore as if it was a vat of deadly acid, then barely dipped a toe in before springing back to a safe distance. "Huh!" He looked himself over. "I guess this water is okay." Nestor, the esteemed Artisan dragon who watched over their out-of-season whelp, blinked. "I'm sorry... Did you say 'this water,' Spyro?" The young dragon grinned, nodding. "A lot of times, touching water makes me die, and that kinda sucks, even if I come right back to life again." Nestor sighed. Clearly, the great destiny of a legendary purple dragon had been weighing heavily on young Spyro's mind, even if he didn't know about it yet. "Well, this water is perfectly safe, I promise. You'll find that you can easily immerse yourself in the water and paddle with your paws to move about." Spyro tilted his head. "Can you show me how, Nestor?" Nestor backed away, holding up his paws. "I'd really rather not, to be honest. I'd have to remove my clothes to keep them dry, and then other dragons
This is a direct sequel to my 2015 story, Blank Slate . I recommend reading that one first. My Little Pony is copyright Hasbro --------------- In hindsight, maybe landing right in the middle of Ponyville with a defeated Starlight Glimmer in tow hadn’t been the best idea. Sweetie Belle wasn’t a good honest Apple like Bloom, but she still had to admit that even their simplest, most innocent cutie mark-finding escapades had a way of getting really out of hoof. When the Cutie Mark Crusaders turned up without their new marks and using strange new powers, could she really blame ponies for being a little scared? She’d even dreamed that Celestia was banishing them to the far corners of Equestria so their new magic couldn’t put anypony else in danger, and she was never going to see her best friends ever again. Princess Luna had stepped in and stopped the nightmare right there, though. Rarity had given her a big sisterly hug, and reminded her that the Crusaders weren’t the only ponies in

Falling…
“Yo, what’s happening, cadets? First-years, right? Yeah, yep, yep, yep, just like me four years ago. Well, not exactly like me. There’s only one Spyro.”
A small, scaly form plummeted through the endless cloudscape of the Skylands, unconscious, tumbling erratically…
“Wait a second. Was Eruptor right? Is evil an actual thing that has to go somewhere if it isn’t being acted upon?”
The young dragon fell through a belt of storm clouds. Icy rainwater drenched him, jolting him partly awake. He groaned, thrashing, only to get pummeled by loose stones and clumps of dirt, choking dust,

Drabble: Trixie Tempts Fate
“Time travel!” exclaimed Trixie, dramatically leaping from behind a crystal bookshelf. “Clearly, that is the secret of how Twilight Sparkle, a lowly unicorn far inferior to the Great and Powerful Trixie, was able to become an Alicorn Princess!”
Princess Twilight Sparkle stirred sugar into her tea, her feathers only slightly ruffled. “I do know a single-use time travel spell, Trixie.” Twilight grimaced. “It led to… one of my more memorable freakouts. A little foreknowledge is a dangerous thing.”
“Dangerous? Clearly, you weren’t using it right.” Trixie tapped her chin wit
Some things never change. I’m not talking about the dangers I encounter, being a police officer, or the paperwork I have to file to account for every little thing I do in the line of duty. Those never change either, but right now I’m thinking of something a little more personal. Specifically, the battle for the last creme-filled jelly doughnut, which is floating out of the box and under the break room table straight to me, sparkling blue just like my horn.
“Officer Madison!” Lt. Griffiths snatches the doughnut just short of my open mouth and waggles a finger playfully. “What is that, three doughnuts this mo
